all about dots
Writing is a lot like connecting the dots. One dot leads to the next, then the next, then the next until eventually a picture emerges. Life, poetry, writing, all pieces of the same puzzle. Everything is connected.
Harmony and balance are the center of all beauty. Recognizing all things are connected, leads to enlightenment and creativity. Such is the cornerstone of all philosophy. Eastern, Western, Ancient, Christian, it doesn’t really matter. Philosophy is firmly rooted in harmony and balance, the belief that all things are connected. The Alpha and Omega, the beginning and end, the circle of life.
Art, as life, has a beginning, a middle, and an end. Even an afterlife, for art survives beyond the artist.
Every journey starts with the first step, at the beginning, and follows a path, wherever it may lead, until the end. The path may not always be straight. It may double back on itself, crisscross, even circle around. But it always leads from the beginning to the end.
Artists create pictures for the eye in paints with brushes, in stone with chisels, in unique mediums that delight and surprise. They create forms, shapes, shades, reflections and distortions, of reality. Authors create pictures for the mind’s eye on paper with words, phrases, sounds, rhythms, rhymes, and patterns. They create forms that shape the shades, reflections and distortions, of reality.
Discover the connections, the harmony and balance, of life and art, and the poem emerges, the story develops, the picture becomes crisp and clear for both the author and audience. It’s all about connecting the dots.
so much to do, so little time

Also entered the 2006 Grabber Contest at www.ralan.com
I’m getting a little anxious to hear some good news about some of my recent submissions. Waiting is the worst part of writing. Of course I can always write while I wait.
My next trip is only 15 days away. I’ll be gone for a week. Unfortunately I’m flying. Flying these days is not only annoying but frightening. So many recent plane problems. Crashes, and breakdowns, and terrorist, oh my.
After this trip I’m back for 18 days then off again. Driving that time to Eureka Springs with two of my favorite people, Dion and Lisa. Then comes the Norman Galaxy of Writers’ Contest November 4, 2006 www.nonprofitpages.com/normangalaxy I’m not entering that one. I’m the coordinator. Then the NGW Holiday Dinner in December. Then the Oklahoma Writers’ Federation Inc. Contest deadline Feb 1, 2007 www.owfi.org There’s a conference in Taos New Mexico that Dion is wanting to attend. But I’m not sure when, nor where. She’ll let me know.
Of course I’ll be busy between now through May 2007 with publicity for OWFI.
Mojocastle Press, www.mojocastle.com will be going full speed soon. Hope to get something finished and ready to send to them soon.
My daughter is working on a book about a Vampire Witch. A very interesting story. My son has been working on a murder-mystery “Bloody Mary”. They are so talented. Take after their dear ole mum.
The kids are driving. Scarey. Terrifying. Nightmarish.
Children should be born sealed inside bubble-wrap.
Well back to work. Catch you later.
Keep writing, I will
